Did you know that Quinte Conservation, has just completed a two year project in preparing a Stewardship Plan for the second largest Lake in Prince Edward County. The Plan reflects the concerns and aspirations of the community around East Lake. It is categorized as a "mesotrophic" lake and a real Gem in the County. It is connected to Lake Ontario by Outlet River and is about 12 square kilometers in size. Recreation and Tourism has been an important part of the Lake since the early 20th century. The purpose of the plan is to identify, protect, preserve and enhance the unique environmental and social features of East Lake and its watershed for present and future generations. The official plan for Prince Edward County endorses the development of a "Shoreland Management Plan" for East Lake - a document similar in form and content to this "Lake Stewardship Plan"
